Richard “Pappy” Gorman, 95, of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on January 23, 2014.

Richard was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1918. After graduating from Central Catholic High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Pacific during World War II, where he earned two Bronze Stars.

On April 19th 1947, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Noon Gorman. After his military service, Richard had a proud career working for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion, and The Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Betty” Noon Gorman and his son Richard “Ricky” Gorman.

He is survived by his daughter Anne Jones, and her husband LaVerne Jones, grandchildren Shannon and Paul Bednarowski, Beth and Steven Alonso, Lauren and David Alonso, Ryan and Liz Jones, and great grandchildren Emma, Kylie, Kelsie, Ellie, Dillon, Coby, and Owen, all of Peachtree City.

Rosary and visitation will be Friday, January 31, 6-8 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home in Peachtree City. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1 at 12 noon. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. A reception in his honor will be held at the Centennial Club house following the service from 1 – 3 p.m.
