Man pleads guilty to PTC. apt. shooting

A Newnan man pled guilty last week to shooting a Peachtree City man at the Camden Apartments off MacDuff Parkway last June.

Joel Alan Chambers was sentenced by Fayette County Superior Court Judge Fletcher Sams to three years in prison followed by 17 years on probation.

Chambers, 49, of Medallion Park in Newnan was arrested June 23, 2013 after getting into an argument with Robert Lee Thompson Jr. and shooting him in the chest, police said.

In addition to to the prison sentence, Chambers must also pay more than $39,000 in restitution and is required to consume no alcohol while he is on probation.
