A man has been convicted and sentenced to life in prison in connection with a shooting death last year in Peachtree City.
After a trial that took place the week of Oct. 30, Marlon Jones was convicted of malice murder, felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Superior Court Judge Rhonda Kreuziger sentenced Jones to life in prison without parole on the murder charge and five years on the weapons charge, with sentences to run consecutively.
According to a statement from District Attorney Marie Broder’s office, Donnell Hicks arrived in the early morning hours of May 4, 2022 for his job as manager of the CVS pharmacy on Lexington Circle in Peachtree City. He was confronted outside the front entrance by Jones, with whom he had a personal dispute.
After a short discussion, Jones produced a Glock nine-millimeter pistol and fired at Hicks, knocking him to the ground by the entrance. An eyewitness testified that Jones then stood over Hicks and fired into him until the gun was empty.
Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene. Jones was then arrested by Peachtree City police.
“This crime rocked our community, and I am so thankful to my dynamic team who prosecuted this case,” said Broder. “My offices will continue to aggressively prosecute violent crime.”
Broder credited officers and detectives of the Peachtree City Police Department, led by Sgt. Heather Scott, with conducting the investigation along with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s State Crime Laboratory.
You have to wonder what is going through a man’s mind to decide to kill another man like that. Surely he had to know that it would result in giving up his life through incarceration for a large portion, if not all, of his own life.
He deserves the death penalty.Per article,he stood over the victim & kept shooting until he ran out of ammo.

I got to know, Donnell Hicks, the victim and manager of CVS Lexington. He was always cheerful and helpful, ran a good store and his associates were emotionally crushed to have him gunned down at the store entrance.
