Nativity announces Holy Week events

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will hold special services every day during the coming week, marking the close of the season of Lent and the beginning of the season of Easter.

On Sunday, April 1, the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist will include a palm procession and the Liturgy of the Palms. Stations of the Cross will be observed at 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (April 2-4).

Special liturgies for Maundy Thursday and Good Friday will be held at 7 p.m. on April 5 and 6. A traditional garden watch will be held starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday and ending at 9 a.m. next day. The Good Friday service will include a play that will re-enact events described in the Passion Gospel in the book of John.

Noon prayers for Holy Saturday will be said at the church at noon on Saturday, April 7. The Great Vigil of Easter will begin at 8:30 p.m. that day, including the lighting of the Paschal candle that will burn at all services from Easter through the Day of Pentecost.

Easter Sunday will feature a festival service of Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. April 8. An Easter egg hunt for children will begin on the church grounds at 11:15 a.m.
