15 citations issued in St. Patty’s Day road check in PTC

Peachtree City Police made a statement on March 17 about drinking and driving when four arrests were made with a total of 15 citations issued at St. Patrick’s Day road checks on Flat Creek Road and at the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Rockaway Road.

Department spokesperson Rosanna Dove said there were four arrests with a total of 15 citations and four warnings during the road checks that began at 10 p.m. on Saturday and ended at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Peachtree City Police were assisted in the road checks by a deputy from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

A breakdown of the night’s activity included two arrests for DUI alcohol and two for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Other citations included driving with a suspended license, driving without a Georgia drivers license, no insurance, invalid registration, expired license, improper backing, failure to maintain lane, failure to show license and three citations for possessing an open container of alcohol, according to police reports. Dove noted that some drivers received more than one citation.

Officers began the evening’s road check at 10 p.m. at the bridge on Flat Creek Road. The road check location moved to the intersection of Hwy. 74 and Rockaway Road just after midnight and continued until approximately 2:30 a.m.
