ATLANTA, GA — Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Phi Pi Omega Chapter joined thousands of sorority members and volunteers in Atlanta for a major service initiative centered on the theme, “Championing Service. Empowering Sisterhood. Transforming the World.”
The Georgia International Convention Center was transformed into a hub of service, generosity and community engagement as members worked together to address the needs of students, educators, families and community organizations.
Phi Pi Omega made a significant contribution to the effort, donating more than $5,000 in books, bookbags, school supplies, gift cards for teachers and canned food items. The donations reflected the chapter’s continued commitment to education, food security and strengthening communities through meaningful service.
Phi Pi Omega President Tiffany Callaway Ferrell said the chapter’s participation demonstrated the difference intentional service can make.
“This is what impact looks like for our community,” Ferrell said. “It is with pleasure that we are able to serve the Coweta and Fayette County community through meaningful service that highlights the mission of our organization.” Some of the organizations that we serve attended this event and were able to receive some of the donations that were available
The chapter’s service efforts are strengthened through its philanthropic partner, the Hedera Foundation, Inc., which raises funds to support scholarships, community programs and charitable initiatives.
Brenda Andrews, President of the Hedera Foundation, said the Foundation’s fundraising efforts help make this level of community service possible.
“Through the Hedera Foundation, we raise money so that we can do what we are doing today — be of service to all mankind,” Andrews said.
Phi Pi Omega and the Hedera Foundation support numerous local organizations and initiatives, including Fayette County Schools, Coweta County Schools, Promise Place, Bloom Closet and the Fayette Chamber of Commerce, among others.
Andrews also invited community members to learn more about the Foundation’s work by visiting its website, supporting its programs and attending the annual Emerald Elegance fundraising event on November 7.
“If you can’t purchase a ticket to join us, consider hitting that donate button on the website to make a contribution,” Andrews said, noting that every gift helps Phi Pi Omega and the Hedera Foundation continue supporting schools, families and community organizations throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.
Through its service in Atlanta and its ongoing work at home, Phi Pi Omega continues to demonstrate how sisterhood, philanthropy and community partnerships can produce meaningful and measurable impact while advancing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated’s enduring commitment to “Service to All Mankind.”
