The Newnan-Coweta Art Association (NCAA) has selected Linda West as its featured “Artist of the  Month” for August. Ms. West’s art will be featured in the entryway to Newnan City Hall until  September.

Linda was born and raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia on sweet tea and grits. Her career  began in the graphic arts industry, where she spent over 20 years working in production and training,  followed by more than 15 years in the corporate world. After retiring, she returned to her first love— painting.

Linda’s artistic journey began in the 1980s with painting classes and has since grown into a daily  practice. She primarily works in acrylics while also exploring oils, watercolors, mixed media, and resin.  Known for her expressive palette knife textures, her style blends realism, impressionism, abstraction,  and whimsical, jazz-inspired elements. Linda leaves her signature mark hidden within every painting  with a heart. Can you find it?

Painting is both a creative outlet and a source of calm for Linda, helping to soothe the soul and ease  anxiety. She loves sharing her passion through “Jazzy Art” paint parties, bringing art instruction to  homes, churches, offices, and community groups. One of her most memorable experiences was  teaching large classes aboard an airplane at the Delta Museum.

Linda is a member of the Southside Sketchers, Fayette Art Society, and Newnan-Coweta Art  Association.

NCAA’s general meetings are held the third Monday of each month (from August through May) at the  Harriet Alexander Art Center on Hospital Road at 6:30 p.m. An art demonstration is presented each  month. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
