Kayla Foppe, Katherine Gutshall, and Joshua Jiang of Starr’s Mill High have been named 2026 Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education.
The three Panthers are among 162 graduating seniors across the state to earn the honor. Through the Georgia Scholar program, GaDOE identifies and honors high school seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life. Each honoree receives a seal for their diploma along with a graduation cord to recognize their achievement.
“Congratulations to the 162 students recognized as Georgia Scholars this year,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “These students exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, and service. I’m proud to celebrate their achievements and confident they will continue making a positive difference in their communities and beyond.”
Georgia Scholars carry exemplary course loads throughout their four years of high school, demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, actively participate in school and community activities, and serve as leaders in extracurricular and service organizations.
GaDOE coordinates the Georgia Scholar program in partnership with local school districts and schools.
