Fayette Samaritans, a nonprofit that provides food, clothing, and emergency assistance to families across Fayette County, is asking for community support to help restock its pantry for the month of March.

The organization also needs volunteers to assist in the office, clothes closet, and food pantry, as well as couriers to pick up donated food. Volunteer shifts are typically one morning a week from 9 a.m. to noon.

The need remains steady. In 2025, Fayette Samaritans assisted an average of 41 families each week , serving 1,999 families total during the year. About 39% of those families were receiving services for the first time , while 61% were living below the poverty level .

Families with children made up 51% of those served , while 37% included seniors and 37% included someone living with a disability .

Through its programs, 77% of families received groceries , 35% received emergency financial assistance , and 32% received clothing support .

Most-needed pantry items for March include:

  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Dried beans
  • Rice (2-pound bags)
  • Cookies
  • Bar soap
  • Feminine products

The Fayette Samaritans Clothes Closet is also seeking women’s underwear of all sizes, men’s boxer shorts of all sizes, and socks for both men and women.

Donations may be dropped off at Fayette Samaritans, located at 126 Hickory Road in Fayetteville. For more information about donations or volunteer opportunities, call 770-719-2707.

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me,” the organization reminds supporters, quoting Matthew 25:45.
