On Saturday, December 13, 2025, 150 youth from local churches from Fayette, Coweta, Troup and Carroll counties, gathered together at two different non-profits in Coweta county to provide volunteers for their Christmas service project.
One group of youth and their leaders met at Bridging the Gap to assemble and distribute 115 food boxes, put together 150 hygiene kits, and decorated bags for Meals on Wheels.
Bridging the Gap’s mission is simple — to feed, serve, and restore. They provide food and essential resources to families in need, meet people with compassion in their hardest moments, and walk alongside them as they work toward stability and hope. Tonya Graham from Bridging The Gap stated, “The students and leaders did an amazing job, and we are incredibly grateful for their service. From preparing for Christmas gift distribution, loading cars, sorting food for families in need, serving hot meals to our neighbors, and cleaning the community room, their enthusiasm and willingness to help made a big impact. We truly couldn’t serve our community the way we do without volunteers like these. It was wonderful to see so many students and leaders come together to serve and uplift others.”
Another group met at RiverLife to assemble 150 hygiene kits and created ornaments for the Operation Ornaments organization.
RiverLife changes lives by identifying and addressing critical needs in the community and equipping volunteers to serve with deep compassion and wide-reaching impact. They partner with nonprofits and other organizations in their community to identify people in need of yard cleanup, exterior home repair and wheelchair ramp access. The RiverLife team coordinates and leads these opportunities for volunteers to create a meaningful experience for those serving and to safely and respectfully meet the needs of those served. The executive director of RiverLife, Melanie Reeves, said, “Saturday was a special day filled with activity across our community. It was especially meaningful to open our space to youth from different churches as they assembled hygiene kits for neighbors in need. Seeing their excitement and eagerness to serve was truly inspiring. We are grateful to these youth and their leaders for coming together to make a difference, especially during this season, and we look forward to serving alongside them again!”
This Interfaith youth service project was organized by the youth leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and they are so grateful for those who came together to donate their time to such wonderful local agencies that serve our community.
