A single-vehicle crash on the morning of September 25 on Longview Road in Fayetteville left one man dead and the driver injured, according to a report from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. The driver is being held without bond for vehicular homicide.

Investigators said the vehicle was traveling north toward Bethea Road when it left the right side of the roadway, striking two trees before overturning. The passenger, identified as 52-year-old Christopher Dean of Newnan, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 43-year-old Donald Parker Begley of Fayetteville, sustained minor injuries and was transported for treatment. Deputies reported that Begley was later charged with 1st degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

The crash occurred during dawn hours on a dry roadway under clear skies. Begley is being held currently without bond at the Fayette County Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
