The Sandy Creek High School head custodian is under review after bringing an unloaded firearm to school on Thursday, according to Principal Tosha Oliver.
In a letter sent to families on October 10, Oliver said the staff member kept the firearm in a locked desk until the end of her shift, then self-reported the incident to a school administrator. Law enforcement was notified, and charges are pending.
“At no time was the safety of others in jeopardy on our campus,” Oliver said. She added that the school is reviewing Georgia weapons laws with all staff to ensure the situation does not happen again.
“The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” Oliver wrote.
