Emily Morris, school nutrition manager at Peeples Elementary, is the 2025 winner of the coveted Cheryl Calhoun Manager of the Year Award.
Emily Morris has been a dedicated member of Fayette County Public Schools since 2012, demonstrating a strong commitment to both her work and the community she serves. In her managerial capacity, she has successfully overseen two key programs within the School Nutrition Program, ensuring both operate smoothly and meet the highest standards for quality and compliance. Emily’s leadership in managing these programs has been instrumental in delivering nutritious meals and enhancing student wellness across the district.
Beyond her direct management responsibilities, she has expanded her impact by assisting at the central office, where she collaborates with district leadership to improve program efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, she has taken on the role of training manager, playing a vital role in mentoring and guiding her peers. Through this role, she shares her expertise and best practices to elevate the overall performance of the School Nutrition Program across Fayette County schools.
Emily is known for her willingness to go above and beyond, always ready to help others in any way she can. Her dedication, leadership, and positive attitude make her an invaluable asset to the district. From starting as a part-time assistant to becoming a respected manager and mentor, Emily’s journey reflects her passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and staff alike.
Morris is the 12th SNP manager to receive the award established to recognize outstanding achievements of school nutrition managers. The school system’s nutrition staff nominates and votes on the individual they feel best meets the benchmark criteria for the award.
Named in honor of the school system’s longest serving school nutrition program director (22 years) who lost her battle with cancer in January 2007, the Cheryl Calhoun Award recognizes managers who exemplify the professional qualities demonstrated by Calhoun: Dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
