Harts of Teal held its 5th annual Color Run on June 7, raising an astounding $140,913.21 to support those affected by gynecological cancers.

This year’s run held special significance-not only did it mark the fifth year of the event, but it also celebrated Harts of Teal founder Kim Airhart’s fifth year as an ovarian cancer survivor. Airhart created the non-profit while undergoing treatment herself and was overjoyed with the results of this inspiring event.

“There were tears-some of joy and some of sadness-but the overarching feeling was unification,” said Airhart. “The course buzzed with cheering squads, families high-fiving runners, kids waving signs-and music setting the tone. The finish line felt like a celebration of joy, laughter, and relief all intertwined.”

One touching moment from the event Airhart recalled is when Deana Still, a fellow “teal sister”, was invited to cut the ribbon and start the race.

“Surrounded by family and fellow community members, she stood there with quiet confidence-the air full of hope and unity. Tragically, she passed away just a few weeks later,” Airhart said. “That simple act now carries so much deeper meaning. She wasn’t just starting a race-she was being a part of our story, showing us the power of courage and community. We miss her every day, and that memory keeps her spirit alive in everything we do.”

The event was full of meaningful moments like Deana’s ribbon cutting, but it would not have been possible without the dedicated volunteers and support of local businesses.

“From the crack-of-dawn setup crew to those manning water stops, every role was filled with intensity, care, and love. Local businesses were huge supporters too-sponsoring the event, providing hydration stations, printing signage, and their team members showing up to volunteer,” said Kim Airhart. “It felt like the whole community was vested in the success. It makes me so happy to see it all come together.”

Sponsors of the event include City of Hope as the presenting sponsor, Hart’s Septic Services, Northside Hospital, Bragassa Orthodontics, Axis Spine & Pain, and Strack Inc. as teal sponsors, The Citizen as a media sponsor, and several other awareness and ribbon sponsors that can be found on the Color Run’s Race Roster.

The more than $140,000 raised will go toward spreading awareness, outreach, and community programs throughout the year. With earlier access to care, more consistent treatment, and stronger emotional support, women affected by gynecological cancers will benefit from a stronger network and life-saving education.

“By raising awareness, advocating for early detection, and offering community-based support, we’re not just offering community-based support-we’re reshaping a narrative that desperately needs it,” said Airhart. “That’s the story we hope participants carry with them: that together, we don’t just walk a course-we build a movement grounded in compassion, action, and real-life healing.” Harts of Teal’s upcoming events include its monthly Teal Sisters dinners, held the second Tuesday of each month at Newk’s Eatery in Peachtree City unless otherwise stated. The next meeting is Tuesday, August 12, at 6:00 p.m. For more information and to signed up for the newsletter, visit Harts of Teal’s website.
