The Booth chorus collaborated with 4th and 5th grade singers from the elementary school feeder music clubs. They were chosen to perform at the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after submitting a video audition. Post sent song rehearsal tracks to elementary music specialists for practice, then select singers met for two rehearsals. The combined groups of 55 singers rehearsed three times and performed a dress rehearsal for parents on game day.
The game started with a rain delay, and, as the singers waited in the third base tunnel, the performance status changed from singing in the light rain, to singing along the third base line, to singing in the tunnel, to having the appearance cancelled. Finally, the skies cleared and the chorus took center field to sing as originally planned.
“They sang with confidence and spirit for a crowd of 37,000 fans, including almost 300 family members, friends, and teachers who came to support the talented young singers,” said Post. “It was a soggy but exciting and memorable night for the Booth chorus program.”
