PEACHTREE CITY, GA (May 6, 2025): On May 5, 2025, Mayor Kim Learnard received Councilman Frank Destadio’ s formal resignation from Post 4. His decision to resign is due to health concerns. As established by ordinance, the seat will be declared officially vacant during the City Council Work Session on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Councilman Destadio, a proud United States Air Force veteran, has dedicated many years of service to the Peachtree City community. He was appointed to the Peachtree City Planning Commission in 2010 and served for 11 years, seven of those as Chairman. In 2021, he ran for City Council and was elected to represent Post 4.
As a Council Member, Destadio prioritized support for military veterans. In 2023, he led the initiative to officially recognize Peachtree City as a Purple Heart City. He has been guided by a strong belief in fairness, transparency, and good governance throughout his tenure. “City Council works well,” he has said, “but we can always do better,” adding that he strives to lead with “honesty, integrity, and clear communication.” He often recalls his father’s advice: “Always treat everyone fairly.”
The Mayor and City Council express their deep appreciation for Councilman Destadio’s steadfast service to the city, his leadership in planning and policy, and his commitment to the community. The Council will decide whether to fill the vacant post that ends on December 31, 2025.
