The Fayetteville Police Department honored the lifesaving instincts of Spring Hill Elementary 5th grader Dan Smith. During lunch, Dan noticed that a classmate was choking on food and quickly alerted the school resource officer.

For his heroic actions, Dan was awarded a Fayetteville Police Department Challenge Coin. He was also presented with a Certificate of Recognition. It reads: “In recognition of your quick thinking, bravery, and compassionate response in aiding a classmate in distress. Your actions serve as an inspiration to others reminding us all the importance of looking out for one another.”

LaMecia Ali, Dan’s 5th grade teacher, calls him a remarkable student who always demonstrates kindness and a strong willingness to assist his peers. He consistently exemplifies leadership qualities, both academically and personally.

“Dan embodies the spirit of a Spring Hill Sun,” said Ali. “I often refer to him as ‘Dan, The Man With A Plan,’ as he is genuinely committed to the success of those around him.”
