Fayetteville, Georgia – March 17, 2025 – The Fayetteville Fire Department continues to work a fire scene this morning at the GFL transfer station located at 252 First Manassas Mile. The fire has been extinguished, and crews are monitoring smoldering debris.
Solid waste collection services will not be impacted. GFL, the City’s solid waste collection contractor, will continue operations as normal this week.
The GFL transfer station is a private facility and does not impact operations at the nearby Fayette County Transfer Station, which is also located on First Manassas Mile and which was reopened to the public last week. The Fayette County Transfer Station remains open to the public.
The Fayetteville Fire Department was dispatched to the fire at 2:45 a.m., based on a caller reporting seeing flames at the GFL transfer station. Upon arrival, firefighters witnessed heavy fire and smoke. Crews were able to contain the fire to the building of origin.
A routine investigation of the fire is underway. More information will be published as it becomes available.
