Decatur, GA (August 28, 2026) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announces the promotion of Brittany Scott to Manager of the Chemistry Section of the GBI Crime Lab. Ms. Scott will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the section and supervising Chemistry personnel.
“Brittany Scott has demonstrated strong technical knowledge and leadership throughout her career with the GBI,” said GBI Director Chris Hosey. “Her experience in the Chemistry Section as both a scientist and Assistant Manager has prepared her well to lead the section, support the important work of our forensic scientists, and continue to advance the mission of the GBI.”
“Brittany Scott is a skilled scientist and proven leader,” said GBI Crime Lab Division Director Cleveland Miles. “Brittany’s progression within the Chemistry Section is a testament to her knowledge, dedication, and leadership ability. Her experience as Assistant Manager has given her a strong foundation to take on this new responsibility and lead the section effectively.”
Ms. Scott began her career with the GBI in 2013 as a Crime Lab Scientist in the Chemistry Section at GBI Headquarters. She was promoted to Chemistry Assistant Manager in 2023. In this role, Ms. Scott was responsible for assisting the chemistry section manager with the daily operations of the section and supervising chemistry personnel.
Ms. Scott graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
Ms. Scott is originally from Snellville, GA, and currently resides in Senoia, GA.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of three primary divisions: the GBI Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Georgia Crime Information Center. The GBI has over 900 employees and a current budget of $162.6 million.
