JoAnne Moore Bortles, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on March 12, 1934, in Pulaski, New York, JoAnne’s life was defined by love, dedication, and unwavering kindness.
JoAnne dedicated her professional career to serving others, working as an Executive Assistant at St. Stevens Church. Her role was more than a job—it reflected her incredible organizational skills and deep commitment to helping those around her. She was known for her steadfast support and the profound impact she had on everyone she encountered.
Above all, JoAnne’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Robert Burton Bortles, and a loving daughter to her late parents, George, and Susie Moore. She is lovingly remembered by her three sons, Randy (Laura), Rick, and Rob (Suzy), as well as her cherished niece, Jeannette Gayne. JoAnne adored her grandchildren—Brooke, Alexa, Elle, Blake, and Colby—and found immense joy in her great-grandchildren, Remi, and Bowen Bortles. Her family was the heart of her world, and she treasured every moment spent creating lasting memories with them.
JoAnne’s legacy of warmth, grace, and compassion lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends and extended family who were fortunate to know her. She was an inspiration to all, demonstrating the power of love, resilience, and generosity.
In accordance with her wishes, JoAnne will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert, a proud veteran, at Georgia National Cemetery. While no formal services will be held, her family will honor her privately, celebrating the profound impact she had on their lives.
