Donna Juanita Bailey, born on January 7, 1941, in Swainsboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Fayetteville, Georgia, at the age of 84. Raised in Midville, she pursued her passion for education, attending Tift College, where she earned her master’s degree in education. Donna dedicated over two decades of her life to shaping young minds as a middle school teacher with the Spalding County Board of Education until her retirement in 2003. Her commitment to education extended beyond her formal teaching career, as she moved to Fayette County and continued to mentor and tutor students, always striving to make a positive impact. Her giving spirit was evident in her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Senior Center Activities, and through her active participation with her beloved church community at New Hope Baptist. Donna is preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Anne Bailey, and her brother, Walter Gene Davis. She leaves behind a loving family including her sons, Greg (Christine) Bailey of San Antonio, Texas and Brian (Lorrie) Bailey of Dallas, Georgia; her grandchildren, Skylar Jean Hay, Christian Joel Bailey, Bryan Joles, Megan (Edward Flores) Joles and Victoria Saenz; great grandchildren, Matthew Reynoso, Sofia Reynoso and Amelia Flores and her nephews, Glenn (Tina) Davis and Dwayne Davis. Her family and friends will forever cherish her memory and immense contributions to their lives. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home. Donna will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Griffin, Georgia.
