Audrey Dempsey, a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a student at Rising Starr Middle School in Peachtree City, has recently achieved remarkable success in her martial arts journey.
She is the 2024 AAU National Champion in both Point Sparring and Continuous Point Sparring and has been recruited to join the prestigious Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Point Sparring Team.
At the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Worlds in Phoenix, Audrey earned a global ranking of 3rd in both Point Sparring and Combat Weapon Sparring.
Her accomplishments also include competing at the Jr. Olympics this summer in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she won 4 gold medals in Combat Weapon Sparring, Power Board Breaking (Hand and Foot), and Speed Board Breaking. Notably, she set an event record by breaking 10 boards in just 1.58 seconds.
Central to Audrey’s impressive achievements is her dedicated instructor, Michael Stief, a 4th degree black belt at Karate Atlanta of Peachtree City.
Mr. Stief’s teaching approach combines advanced techniques with a focus on physical and mental endurance. He began mentoring Audrey from her first tournament and has been a consistent source of guidance and encouragement ever since.
Under his expert tutelage, Audrey has also claimed Georgia State Championship titles in 2022 for Traditional Sparring and Combat Weapon Sparring in the ATA, along with several district and national championship titles for AAU in 2023 and six gold medals in the 2023 AAU Jr. Olympics.
