The investigation continues into some suspicious fires that took place earlier this week on a construction site adjacent to the Piedmont Fayette Hospital campus.
Fayetteville police are proceeding with the case as an arson investigation.
The incident happened in the wee hours of April 16, and several pieces of construction equipment were burned, according to a police department statement.
“Local, state, and federal law enforcement partners are working together to collect evidence and pursue leads,” according to a spokesman.
The Citizen reached out to Fayetteville officials the morning of April 19 and there were no updates on the case. A spokesman said the public will be informed of any changes in the case when appropriate.
“As always, we must ensure that the integrity of this case and all others is not compromised,” he stated. “We continue to focus on holding the individuals responsible for this crime accountable for their actions.”
