There will be a new face leading the Tiger pride onto the field this fall. Eric Solomon has been tabbed as the new head football coach at Fayette County High.

Solomon was drawn to the job and the opportunity to coach in a great school district and community.

“I believe my experience and willingness to make a difference in young people’s lives in coaching, teaching, and community involvement gives me an understanding of what it takes to be a success,” said Solomon. “Furthermore, I understand the importance of implementing and establishing a new culture and climate for The Fayette County High School when it comes to academics and athletics programs.”

He brings a wealth of experience at both the high school and collegiate level. He played at Peach County High under the legendary Coach Rodney Walker, who later led Sandy Creek High. He parlayed his All-Region high school career into an opportunity to play college ball at Carson-Newman University where he earned All-Conference honors.

“I am a trained football player and coach, so I know what is required to be a champion on and off the field.”

He considers himself a product of the many great coaches who have influenced him, like Walker and college championship coach Ken Sparks.

“Throughout my years in coaching I have been able to provide students with the tools needed to be successful in the classroom, football field, and in life. I have had exceptional results in all the programs I have worked with,” he said. “My leadership philosophy includes discipline, organization, problem solving, motivational techniques, teamwork, community involvement, school spirit, and school pride. I am excited to begin this journey.” — Story from Fayette County School System.
