Story Stroll @ Drake Field & Story Stroll Storytime Kickoff

Story Stroll: Friday, March 1st — Friday, March 8th —Drake Field

Storytime Story Stroll Kickoff: Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, 10:00am —Storytime Room

Story Stroll is a fun activity that engages families in literacy and getting active. Pages from a children’s book are placed on display along a walkable path allowing families to read aloud together while enjoying the health benefits of exercise. Story Stroll Book: Saturday by Oge Mora on display at Drake Field next to Peachtree City Library. A special Story Stroll Storytime Kickoff will be held Saturday, March 2nd @ 10:00am in the Children’s Department of the library. For ages 3-7, kickoff will include stories, songs, and activities. No registration necessary.

 

4th Annual Junior Art Show Voting Begins

Voting Dates: March 2nd-23rd, 2024

Throughout the month of March, artwork by talented artists ages 2-12 will be featured in the Children’s Department on the Storytime Room window. One (1) winner will be announced in each of the following categories: 2-4 years; 5-8 years; 9-12 years. Only one (1) entry per person. Winners in each category will be announced March 30th, 2024.

 

Meet Your Matches: Intro to DNA Results Using Ancestry.com

Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, 3:00pm —Readers & Writers Room

Learn the basics to understanding your DNA story and matches at Ancestry.com! Join Library Specialist Heather M. as she walks you through the Ancestry website, including an overview of ethnicity estimates, DNA matches, and some of Ancestry’s newest features to help you explore your family history. Access to Ancestry Library Edition is free to all PINES library cardholders within the building, but the library does not provide DNA test kits. This is a drop-in event, no registration required.

 

Keeping You in Stitches: Instruction

Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, 6:30pm —Readers & Writers Room

Come learn basic crochet stitches with Linda B. No experience necessary, ages 14+. Supplies will be provided. This is a drop-in event, no registration required.

 

Weekly Beginning Spanish

Thursdays, March 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th, 2024, 2:00pm —Theater Room

Join Peachtree City Library staff for Beginning Spanish with Mango. Learn how to use Mango Languages as well as practice with other attendees for perfect pronunciation. Join University of Georgia Extension Office’s Radon Educator who will answer all your radon questions and discuss what radon is, why it is present in Georgia, how it causes lung cancer, how to test a home for radon, and how to fix elevated radon levels. Topics will include Medicare Basics: A, B, C, & D – and  what they cover, when to enroll to avoid government penalties, the difference between Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage insurance plans, as well as Medicare for working past 65, VA benefits, Tricare for Life, and Medicaid. Electronic books and audiobooks have taken the digital world by storm. She’ll demonstrate how to get eBooks and audiobooks for free through the library. Learn about Georgia Download Destination and the Libby app for library card holders and how to download and navigate the app and checkout books. This FREE event will be held at The Gathering Place. AARP Smart Driver Course

The AARP Smart Driver course teaches valuable defensive driving strategies and provides a refresher of the rules of the road. Plus, you may qualify for a multi-year automobile insurance discount by completing the course (check with your auto insurance agent for details). Cozy Talk Book Club
