0Oak Grove Elementary 5th graders put bacteria and fungus on trial to prove they are beneficial.
For the trial, each student researched a specific bacteria or fungus. A trial was held with witnesses presenting evidence, and jurors decided whether they are more helpful or harmful.
Each of the classes held two trials, one for fungus and one for bacteria. Both were found innocent by the jury, proving they are more helpful.
“From this activity, students learned many helpful and harmful facts about both bacteria and fungus,” said teacher Natalie Whitson. “By putting both bacteria and fungus on trial, the students were very passionate about proving the case.”
