Rising Starr, Peeples collaboration sharpens skills

The Panthers and Rockets are getting better together. A collaboration between Rising Starr Middle and Peeples Elementary brings students together to sharpen their English Language Arts skills.

Once a month, two gifted classes from Rising Starr visit with 2nd and 3rd graders at Peeples. The 8th graders bring games of their own making to teach key curriculum concepts.

Sarah Shannon, 8th grade ELA teacher at Rising Starr, sees her students benefit from the partnership.

“By doing this, my students are practicing their listening and speaking skills, learning how to be very specific in their explanations, and even learning more deeply the concepts they are teaching,” said Shannon. “All in all, good for both groups!”
