Whitewater High soccer jerseys are finding a second life with a bit of international flair. The Wildcats shared from their many blessings by donating their old jerseys to a team in Guatemala.

Soccer parent Wendy Scarbrough has done service trips to Guatemala for several years and met up with Nestor Flores and his organization called Sin Limites. Their mission is to create long-term meaningful change in the areas of nutrition and health, safe housing, and sports development for young adults.

For Whitewater High boys varsity soccer coach Scott Schmitt, a quote by Roger Moore speaks volumes of why they did it: “We all have a responsibility in life to do what we can to help those less fortunate.”

“They work with a lot of soccer teams in Guatemala, so it just made sense,” said Schmitt. “I knew that we were blessed by a great community and parents here at Whitewater who allow us to get what we need for our athletes, and we had several sets of old uniforms in good shape.”

Now, the Whitewater jerseys will be worn by AFF Guatemala out of Guatemala City.

“We are so excited to have the Whitewater Crest seen Internationally,” said Schmitt. “I think it will just showcase the warm hearts of our community to help out people who may have just a little less than we do.”
