School Nutrition Program’s “Hunger Heroes” honored

More than ever during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, many families needed help ensuring their children didn’t go hungry, and the angels of the Fayette County School Nutrition Program worked tirelessly to make sure they stayed fed. Their efforts did not go unnoticed as they were recently honored by No Kid Hungry, a national non-profit campaign working to solve hunger and poverty around the world.
The “Hunger Heroes” award bestowed on the program recognizes the work they did feeding kids during the pandemic, including curbside, evening meal service, and weekend meals, as well as serving on hybrid learning days.
It isn’t the first time they’ve been honored for their lifesaving work by No Kid Hungry. Just last year they received a $10,000 grant to support their efforts.
