A Fayette County man was arrested by Peachtree City police for videoing a consensual sexual encounter without telling the woman, then later threatening to distribute the video.

Joseph Kimber, 44, of unincorporated Fayette, was charged on June 24 with unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Chris Hyatt said police were contacted by a woman from Tennessee who said that earlier this year she came to Peachtree City for consensual sex at a local hotel, adding that she had known Kimber for several years.

The woman said Kimber videoed her during the sexual encounter but failed to tell her, then subsequently contacted her and threatened to distribute the video, said Hyatt.

Hyatt said the investigation produced sufficient probable cause to charge Kimber, adding that the investigation is ongoing and that other charges are possible.

Also in Peachtree City, an officer on June 23 at approximately 3 p.m. responded to the First Baptist Church on Willowbend Road pertaining to damage to the church steeple after an unknown person had climbed onto the roof and spray-painted the steeple.

Hyatt said someone during the June 22-23 time frame had painted hearts, stars and phallic representations on the steeple.
