Fayette County edged back above the 10% 2-week positive test rate mark Feb. 10, now the same as larger Coweta and within a point of the state rate.

The Wednesday report from the Georgia Department of Public Health showed 43 new cases for Fayette, with a new total of 5,548 pandemic cases.

The county also added one more victim to the county death toll, now at 109 since last March. The most recent victim was a white male, age 75, with no additional medical problems.

Here are the statewide numbers:

• 2,445 new cases for a total of 780,494.

• 118 new Covid fatalities for a total of 13,599. That’s a death rate of 1.74% of all confirmed tests.

• 3,362 Covid patients being treated in statewide hospitals, representing 21.3% of all hospital patients. That’s 2,355 fewer persons in Covid beds than just over a month ago (as shown in the main chart above).

Below are charts showing the ICU beds usage over time and the 7-day moving average of state Covid cases as of Feb. 10.
