A 90-acre tract on Dogwood Trail at Crabapple Lane in unincorporated Fayette County was approved Dec. 10 by the Fayette County Commission for a 53-home single-family subdivision.

The rezoning request asked that the 90.03-acre property be rezoned from A-R (agricultural residential) to R-50 (1-acre lots).

The property is bordered on the north and west by Tyrone and to the south by Peachtree City.

Representing the owner, developer Trent Foster noted that property in the past had been before Peachtree City and the county with proposals for up to 300 homes. The current proposal is for 53 homes.

The only speaker in public comments was from the Kedron Hills subdivision in adjacent Peachtree City, opposing the request and citing traffic concerns, especially on Crabapple Lane, and questioning the price point of the homes.

Foster said that while the price point is not currently set, homes could be in the $600,000-700,000 range, which would be similar to his other developments in the immediate area.

County planning staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval.
