A Peachtree City man has been arrested on felony charges of enticing a child for indecent purposes in connection with text messages exchanged with a 13-year-old Peachtree City girl.

Ricardo Laverde, 41, was charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes, a felony, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesperson Heather Scott said the incidents involving a 13-year-old female had been occurring since the summer.

The victim’s family was made aware of the allegations on Dec. 8 and subsequently contacted police, said Scott.

Scott said texts between Laverde and the victim revealed definite signs of grooming on his part to gain confidence about the victim’s knowledge of male genitalia and what she would like to do with a boyfriend.

Scott said investigation is ongoing, with the potential for additional charges.
