Fayette Senior Services, Inc. (FSS), a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, would like to recognize their volunteer Tool Team for their quick response and excellent job on a recent project.
Fayette Senior Services’ Tool Team is a group of volunteers who FSS connects with in-need clients to do minor home safety maintenance tasks and repairs around their homes. This group of volunteers from the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711 is always up for a challenge.
During a delivery on their daily Meals On Wheels route, a MOW volunteer called FSS to bring to our attention that one of the client’s stairs leading in and out of her house were in dangerous condition. FSS quickly jumped into action, as the client is legally blind and the top stair on her front steps were cracked and posed a risk to her as well as our MOW volunteers who deliver daily.
A family member whom she regularly depends on to help her financially was unable to do so due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. She was not aware that she could reach out to FSS to ask for assistance in repairs.
FSS Case Management team reached out to the Tool Team and they quickly stepped in to rebuild her stairs. She was brought to tears as she came out to thank them.
“I can’t really see them, but knowing they are fixed makes me so happy,” she said. “It brings tears to my eyes! Y’all have been so good to me and helped in so many ways. You just don’t know what it means to me.”
“It certainly takes a village,” Care Manager Natalie Hynson said. “We’ve got a strong team in place to recognize needs and provide assistance to clients we serve at FSS!”
Fayette Senior Services makes it their priority to serve the seniors in our community, no matter how large or small a need may be. By identifying the needs of those they serve or those that reach out for help, FSS helps connect individuals with resources to find solutions. The Care Management team helps older adults make informed decisions to enhance independent living and quality of life.
