Katherine Scott Allen, age 87, of Peachtree City, passed away August 20, 2020.

Mrs. Allen was born in New York, NY on July 15, 1933 to the late William and Anne Scott.Ā With the nickname ā€œScotty,ā€ she grew up in New York City alongside two sisters,Ā Adelaide and Anne. While attending college, Mrs. Allen met the youngĀ Princeton undergrad,Ā Al Allen.

Upon Mr. Allen’s graduation, he became an officer inĀ the United States Air Force. The couple wed inĀ Biloxi, MSĀ on December 14, 1952, while Mr. Allen was stationedĀ at KeeslerĀ AFB.Ā Upon completion of officerĀ training, the couple relocated toĀ FairchildĀ AFB inĀ Spokane, WA, where they welcomed the first of their five children.

Mr. Allen’s career in sales and management sent the family to Louisville, KY, Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL, and Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Allen especially enjoyed living just outside of Cleveland, OH in the lovely suburb of Bay Village.

Upon Mr. Allen’s retirement, the couple moved toĀ Lake Keowee in Seneca, SC,Ā where they lived for more than 20 years. Mrs. Allen lost her beloved husband in May of 2006. In 2014, she relocated to Georgia to be closer to family. Mrs. Allen spent the remainder of her life at the Arbor Terrace community of Peachtree City.

Mrs. Allen devoted her life to being a mother and caregiver to her family. She was Catholic and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. While living in South Carolina, Al and Kathy, both confirmed wine-lovers,Ā became foundingĀ charterĀ members ofĀ their communityĀ Wine Tasting Club.

SheĀ had a passion for all things that involved reading, especially good crime or mystery novels.Ā Known for having a quieter disposition, it never stopped her from long chats and storytelling withĀ dear friends and family. Kathy especially lovedĀ travel. She made many wonderful memories with her husband as theyĀ were able to explore destinations throughoutĀ Europe, the Caribbean and around the United States. Mrs. Allen had a heart for her four-legged children as well, particularly her late dog, Lacy.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband,Ā AlanĀ ā€œA.W.ā€ Allen, her daughter, Christine Margaret Allen, and her sister, Anne Scott. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Stephen and Gail Allen of Peachtree City, Michael and Justina Allen of Roswell, Laura andĀ UrbanĀ Dishart of Sumter, SC, andĀ NikkiĀ Allen of Brookhaven; grandchildren: Matthew Dishart, Kyle Allen, Kevin Allen, Valerie Allen, Grace Allen and Alexandra (Peanut) Allen; sister: Adelaide Franklin of New Jersey.
