The untimely death of Tyrone Councilman Ken Matthews will result in a special election for the Post 3 seat on the Town Council.
Qualifying for the seat will be Aug. 17 at 8:30 a.m. through Aug. 21 at 4:30 p.m.
The qualifying fee is $288.
Qualifying requirements note that candidates must be 21 years of age and have lived within the town limits at least one year prior to the election.
Due to the timing of the election, the term for the post will end on Dec. 31, 2021.
