Marvin Tommy “Tom” Lavender, of White Plains, GA, died Thursday, July 2, 2020, at his residence at the age of 76. Tom was born in Norfolk, VA on March 29, 1944, to the late Marvin  E. Lavender and Myrtice B. Akin Lavender.  He graduated from Forest Park High School in Forest Park, GA.  He married Jamie Ann Fisher, his wife of 39 years, on March 27, 1981.

Tom, a “Die Hard Dawg Fan”, was an avid fisherman and had a variety of interests throughout his adventurous life; from golfing, dancing and clogging, riding his Harley to taking care of his dogs. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Jonesboro Masonic Lodge and a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, Atlanta.

After a successful career with Delta Air Lines, primarily in Airport Customer Service, he retired from the Compliance Group on April 30, 2000. He continued his career with Delta Global Services as Director of Corporate Security and Regulatory Compliance for the next fourteen years.  They purchased the land and began building their home on Lake Oconee in Greene County 1993 where they enjoyed the weekends. In 2014 they moved permanently from Fayetteville to Lake Oconee.

In addition to his wife, Jamie Fisher Lavender, he is survived by his daughter, Sherron Lavender Ponder (Dean) of Fayetteville, GA; a son, Brian Lane Lavender (Jessimyn) of Canton, GA; five grandchildren, Alexandria Noel Tacy, Amelia Daniel Gorz (Zach), Austin Tyler Lavender, Logan Cash Lavender and Molly Anne Shelnutt (Chad); and one great grandchild, Amelia Claire Shelnutt.
