A Newnan man on June 10 was charged with aggravated assault for pulling a knife on a customer at the RaceTrac gas station on Ga. Highway 54 in Peachtree City and chasing him around the store.

Tavares D. Warner, 35, was charged with aggravated assault, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Chris Hyatt said Warner was in line behind a customer at the RaceTrac store when he reportedly said something to the man in front of him. The man turned around finding Warner having pulled a knife on him.

Warner chased the victim around the store, with the victim running out the door and Warner following after him, Hyatt said.

Officers at the scene viewed the store’s video, and subsequently found Warner walking along Hwy. 54.

While questioning Warner, the victim was driving through the area and saw officers speaking with Warner. The victim stopped and told officers Warner had pulled the knife on him.
