A Hogansville man arrested for DUI in Peachtree City on Nov. 9 made matters much worse when he fought with police who were having him checked for injuries following a two-vehicle accident in which he was involved.
Jamichael J. Norman, 37, was charged with simple battery against police, felony obstruction, DUI, failure to display license, open container and following too close, according to Fayette County Jail records.
The series of charges began at 1:47 a.m. on Nov. 9 when an officer on patrol at Ga. Highway 54 and MacDuff Parkway came across a two-vehicle crash, said Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Matt Myers.
Norman was found to be DUI, was placed under arrest and placed in the patrol unit while resisting the officer, said Myers.
Once at the Fayette County Jail, officers were required to transport Norman to Piedmont Fayette Hospital to be checked for possible injuries from the collision.
Myers said Norman when arriving at the hospital refused to get out of the patrol vehicle and fought with the officer and another officer from Tyrone who was on the scene.
Norman continued resisting once entering the hospital and had to be restrained. He continued resisting after being checked and released and had to be put in leg restraints. Norman was subsequently checked into the jail, Myers said.
