Fire alarm follows burglar alarm at Hwy. 92 South store

Flint River Store extensively damaged in July 6 blaze — 
Fayette County firefighters in the early morning hours on July 6 responded to a working fire at the Flint River Store on South Highway 92. The fire caused significant damage and resulted in minor injuries to two firefighters.
Fayette County Deputy Fire Chief Tom Bartlett said a burglar alarm at the Flint River Store on Hwy. 92 South report came in at approximately 4 a.m., followed almost immediately by a fire alarm call.
Fire crews arrived to find the fire in progress, Bartlett said, adding that the fire was significant, causing an estimated $100,000-150,000 in damages.
Bartlett said that two cats were rescued from the flames and two firefighters received minor injuries.
The fire is currently under investigation, Bartlett said.
