Blessings come in all forms, and a Sept. 13 approval by the Fayette County Commission will see a blessing for animals of all kinds held at the old courthouse in downtown Fayetteville on Oct. 7.

The Blessing for Animals will be held from 4-5 p.m., and will include a short ceremony followed by a blessing for the animals. The request was submitted by the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.

Organizers said all animals are welcome, though the expectation is that only small domestic pets will be brought to the site.

Animals will be brought on leashes, in cages and in the arms of owner and be blessed, according to the application for the event.

The vote by commissioners dealt with an intergovernmental agreement between the city and county to hold the event.
