The Fayette County Commission on Aug. 9 agreed with the Ga. Department of Transportation (DOT) that the intersection of Ga. Highway 74 and Sandy Creek Road should receive a traffic signal.

Commissioners on a 4-0 vote acknowledged the DOT recommendation to signalize the intersection of Hwy. 74, Sandy Creek Road and Laurelmont Drive and requested that a traffic signal be installed.

Public Works Director Phil Mallon in an Aug. 9 letter said county approval does not guarantee that the signal will be approved or installed, adding that DOT has recently indicated the belief that funding for the project is in place.
