Jennie “Malone” Daugherty, 83, of Newnan passed away June 24, 2018.
She was born on October 9, 1934 in Tifton, Ga. to the late Aubrey and Clonnie Childs. For 30 plus years, she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school at Heatherwood Baptist Church. She attended and was a dedicated member of Salem Baptist Church. Malone loved to travel, especially to Panama City Beach, Florida. Her favorite pastime was cooking and feeding her family and friends.
Malone was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert “Boney” Phillips in 1987; her second husband William “Bill” Daugherty in 2015; her son, Robert “Robbie” Phillips in 2016, and her parents. She is survived by her son, Russ (Karen) Phillips; daughter-in-law, Brenda Phillips; brother, Stanford Childs; sister, Myrna Jean Wiggins; grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Phillips, Cam Phillips, and Brandon Phillips; great-grandchildren, Nolan Phillips, McKinley Phillips, Savannah Phillips, and Charlotte Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A homegoing celebration was held at 4 p.m. on July 1, 2018 at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Reverend Tom Daugherty officiating. Burial followed the service at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family received friends from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers included, Brandon, Cam, Kyle, Aubrey, Allen, and Bradley.
