James Evans Williams, 87, of Peachtree City passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Jim was born on March 11, 1931 in Sylacauga, Ala. and lived in the Northlake/Emory area of Atlanta for over 50 years, before moving to Peachtree City recently.

Jim was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He graduated from Auburn University, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, and served as the business manager for the Auburn Glomerata. Jim served honorably as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army while stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He and his beloved wife, Doris were married 45 years before she passed away in 1999. Known for his kind demeanor and corny (often inappropriate) jokes, Jim spent the last 3 years of his life making new friends at Heritage of Peachtree retirement community in Peachtree City and loved spending extended holidays with grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Hilton Head S.C., where is daughter lives. Jim built a successful career as a CPA and practiced in DeKalb County GA until he was 80 years old.

Jim is survived by his 2 children, Julie (Tom) Jilly and Michael (Ashley) Williams; grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Boryk, Shannon (Will) Eagan, Caitlin Jilly, Emma Williams, and Lyda Grace Williams; 3 great-grandchildren, Caleb Boryk, Katherine Boryk, and MacKenzie Boryk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kennth L. and Mary Frances Williams; wife, Doris Ray Williams; and son Kenneth R. Williams.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Heritage of Peachtree located at 1967 Highway 54 W, Peachtree City, Ga. 30269, on Thursday June 28, 2918 at 2 p.m.

His ashes will be laid to rest in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga Ala. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, in the name of James E Williams – www.cf-lowcountry.org.
