Peachtree City Fire Rescue Training Officer Ron Mundy (photo above) has been part of the Peachtree City landscape longer than most of the city’s current residents. Mundy on June 7 was recognized by the Peachtree City Council for 35 years of service.

Mundy responded to the recognition, saying that he learned some years ago that Peachtree City Fire Rescue was the place he should be.

Mayor Vanessa Fleisch at the June 7 council meeting recounted Mundy’s wide-ranging experience in public safety.

Fleisch said Mundy acquired an Advanced EMT certification in 1986, was promoted to sergeant in 19-91, to lieutenant in 1995 and to battalion commander/captain in 2006.

Mundy has served as the department’s training officer since 2010, and was recognized as the Career Officer of the Year in 1999 and 2003.
