Mr. Joe Thomas, age 92, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018. He was born January 30, 1926 to the late Emmett and Alice Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a U.S. Marine Corps. WWII veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Tyrone Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. Mr. Thomas was a longtime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Thomas; sister, Mildred Spencer; brother, Roy Thomas.
He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl Norman and her husband, Ron of Mims, Fla., Tina Payne and her husband, Mike of Fayetteville; sisters, Thelma Brown of Fayetteville, Ruby Parrott of Fayetteville, Edna Fisher and her husband, Charles of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Erin Bashford and her husband, Koty, Brent Payne and his wife, Heather, Anthony Levan and his wife, Nicole; great grandchildren, Cadence Bashford, Tucker Bashford, Mason Payne, Millie Payne, Bo Thomas Payne, Kaidence LeVan, and Adalyn LeVan; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 680 Ebenezer Church Rd., Fayetteville, Ga. 30215 with Dan McFarland officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Memorial Gardens.
