On to the second round

The Starr’s Mill Panthers, seen here taking the field Nov. 3 before their regular-season finale against Fayette County, are the only local team still alive in the GHSA state football playoffs.

After their 31-28 win over Dutchtown they will host Bainbridge this Friday night in the second round of the AAAAA bracket.

In other games over the weekend, McIntosh fell to Stockbridge, Whitewater lost to Eagle’s Landing and Our Lady of Mercy was defeated by Mt. Vernon.

Championship games in all classifications are scheduled for Dec. 8-9 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Complete brackets can be seen at www.ghsa.net.
