Fayette County sheriff’s investigators are looking for a vehicle that was carjacked Aug. 3 at a convenience store on Ga. Highway 138 at the Clayton County line.
Sheriff Barry Babb said the owner of a white Chevrolet Cobalt, tag number QAD6106, had entered the Welcome Pantry/Texaco store at 2400 Hwy. 138. When he returned to his car he was grabbed from behind by a slender black male, 6 feet in height, according to a description provided.
The suspect had been sitting in the back seat of a Chevrolet Lumina before approaching the victim, said Babb.
The victim resisted and the two fought, followed by the Lumina driving up to the Cobalt, with the driver, described as a heavy-set black male, brandishing a firearm and telling the victim he would shoot him, Babb said.
Babb said the male involved in the physical altercation entered the vehicle, where the victim’s wallet was located, and drove away.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 770-461-6353.
