Col. Vernon Olin Darley, 91, of Morrow, passed away December 11, 2016.
He was born on May 29, 1925 in Harlem, Ga. to Ellis and Evelyn Darley. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He continued his service in the United States Air Force Reserves for a total service of 33 years. He also was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as a contract specialist.
Col. Darley was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Joyce Darley; his sons, Alan Darley and Terry Darley.
He is survived by his son, Vern (Bert) Darley; his daughter, Marilyn Kay (Lee) Emerson; his grandchildren, Trey Darley, Amanda Swindall, Stephen Darley, Jacob Alan Darley, Amberley Riley, and Joshua Darley; numerous great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Margaret Darley and Faye Thomas.
A funeral service will take place Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor David Tew officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bainbridge, Ga. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
