It’s down to three candidates for the Senoia city manager’s position.
The city of Senoia has actively been pursing candidates since former City Manager Richard Ferry announced in August that he was leaving at the end of September.
Officials said more than 50 people have applied from around the country, but this week announced three Georgia-based candidates are finalists. The finalists all have advanced degrees and a variety of planning experience. The finalists are:
• Richard Bishop, who currently serves as the president of Uptown Columbus Business Improvement District. Bishop established te district as the first urban Main Street in Georgia and oversaw $74 million in capital improvement in the district during the last six years.
• Richard Hampton, who served as the city manager of Donalsonville, Ga. from 2014 to June, 2016. Hampton has worked in public service for 31 years and has extensive experience in developing strategic plans and project management.
• Phillip Claxton, who is the city administrator of Port Wentworth, Ga. Claxton has more than 20 years of experience in local government. Claxton has worked in a fast-growing community and has worked with local leaders in addressing issues that deal with growth.
The city is expected to announce the hiring no sooner than Nov.15.
